Are you waiting for Success ?

Are you waiting for Success ?

Are you waiting for a successful moment to happen?

What does the waiting period feel like-

Frustrating or enjoyable?

Painful or delightful?

While you are aiming at a particularly big goal, achievement or promotion don’t forget, that point or moment will be temporary but what is permanent and greater than that is the period in between 1 successful moment to the next.

They say “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket”

But if you are putting in all your resources in one area/ on a single plan

Here are 3 things to keep you resilient while you are waiting for success.

Enjoy the process

Don’t procrastinate on smaller goals

Build new skills

Enjoy the process

Most of us know about this but aren’t able to actualize it.

Let’s check.

Are you giving too much importance to that single moment to come in the future?

Do you feel life will be easier post the success moment?

But what about today, which is in your control.

Are you enjoying the process or you are just constantly restless about the future and the result?

Have you found joy or peace while you are on the way?

Because that is everything.

Let me share something from my own life experience. I had a dream as a 10-year-old and that was to win the prestigious title of ‘Miss India’.

I had been preparing for the “Miss India “Pageant for over 3 years once I grew up.

I made 3 attempts over 3 years.

Finally, my dream did come true I did end up winning 2 very prestigious pageants in the same year the Femina Style Diva Pageant 2012 (Winner) and 2nd Runners Up at Miss Universe India 2012 Pageant.

Now if you ask me, what was the best part? The crowning moment was magical, but the preparation days are what I will cherish forever in my heart.

I enjoyed every bit of the process, from dressing up, doing my make-up for the training to working on my communication skills, etiquette, etc. to working with Non-government organizations & helping other girls who were also preparing for the pageant.

In the audition process, I had to express my opinions, walk like a diva and present my talent in front of Miss Sushmita Sen, wearing 6 inches heels. I loved all of it.

What I took back from the journey was so much more valuable.

Ask yourself are you enjoying the process?

If you are dependent on those success moments to enjoy work, your goals, and life, the chances of becoming unhappy are high.

· Don’t procrastinate on smaller goals

Well, what happens with most people in the waiting period is, they postpone many smaller goals thinking when this happens I will do this, this, and this. But the important thing to realize here is maybe you are restricting yourself and your full potential, maybe you don’t need to depend on that moment to accomplish many of those things you are procrastinating about.

You are capable of shining with or without that moment if you truly decide to do so regardless of when that moment comes.

I have a great example that you can relate to if you are on social media. Now you might have come across a few influencers on Instagram some of them having 1 million followers and some of them shining as brightly or even more on their page despite having only 30,000 followers.

Should the person having 30,000 followers wait to do all that she can till she crosses the 1 million success mark?

Can she make the most incredible posts even right now without that 1 million mark?

Is anything stopping her from impacting those 30,000 the same way that she could impact when having more followers?

Many smaller goals get delayed while we are waiting to win or are waiting for that big success moment as all our focus and energy is lying far away in the future and so it becomes even more important to understand to focus on the current resources and immediate goals.

Ask yourself, what are those smaller goals that I can start working on without waiting for that big moment?

What are the different ways that you can achieve your smaller goals?

Because sometimes when you focus on the smaller goals during the wait you might just open up new avenues for yourself.

There is no guarantee for how many of your expectations will be taken care of post a success moment.

If you receive beyond what you expected then that’ great but if not it’s still a win-win as you did not just wait for it you worked your way around it.

· Build new skills

The waiting period is a great time to work on yourself and develop additional skills.

Always be open to learning from new people and experienced people.

Having a beginner mindset for learning new things will make you thrive in whichever field you are in.

Many people nowadays have the ‘know it all vibe’.

Late American business executive, chemical engineer, and writer, Jack Welch said

“Keep learning; don’t be arrogant by assuming that you know it all, that you have a monopoly on the truth; always assume that you can learn something from someone else.”

In another instance, one of my dad’s closest friend who lives in London had an established papad and mathiya (Gujarati snacks) business. When his business was going through a low phase he utilized that time to study an electrical technician course and eventually managed to do both successfully with the help of his daughter.

You can either feel bad, complain, and do nothing about the low phase or just hustle it out and build new skills in the same field or another.

Let me know what your views are in the comment section below. You can appreciate my work with claps.

Till then take charge & Make the wait worthwhile. 🙂
